Morangup & Toodyay Road: A Heads-Up for Commuters
January–June 2026

This page exists for one reason: to give Morangup and Toodyay Road commuters clear, early warning about stacked disruptions during late January and June 2026.

Unlike suburbs with train stations or frequent buses, Morangup has no public transport safety net. When downstream infrastructure is disrupted, the impact flows uphill — directly onto Toodyay Road and the people who rely on it every day.

Midland Line shutdown works

From 22 January to 22 February 2026, the Midland rail corridor between Bassendean and Midland is closed for works. Rail-replacement buses will operate — but they use the same congested road network as everyone else.

Two confirmed disruptions — overlapping almost exactly

Morrison Road level crossing closure

Compounding this is the closure of the Morrison Road level crossing, removing another pressure-release valve from the network. Traffic, heavy vehicles, and replacement buses are forced into fewer corridors.

What this means in real terms

This is not about inconvenience. It’s about compressed margins on a road system that already operates close to capacity.

Disruption control: practical adjustments

For the overlap period, the usual “I’ll just make it” timing no longer holds. Small delays compound quickly when the network loses resilience.

Why this page exists

This is not a promotional notice and not a government announcement. It’s a community-level orientation for people who actually live on the Hills side of the system and absorb the downstream effects.

We’ll continue to share verified updates only as information is confirmed. The goal is preparation, not panic — not spin.
